The raw material we use for our barrels is exclusively from the indigenous sessile oak, "Quercus Petraea". These trees, found in the higher, northern tracts of the Zemplén mountains, are felled when they reach 110-120 years of age. These oaks grow slowly, the annual rings packed tightly. The quality is excellent, as shown by the frequent orders from french coopers.
We make a point of drying our staves for at least 24 months in fresh air, to mature while subjected to the natural elements (wind, rain, sunshine…).
